It has been hanging in my Mum's house for a while and one year on it looks like this...
No mould, and it hasn't gone too brittle... the colour has faded in parts and gone a rich dark brown in others. Fascinating!

That is amazing! We will be making some lampshades for our new house and I think squashed carrots will be in the running...!!!
ReplyDeleteThat'll be fun! Cut the slices quite thickly for strength and I don't recommend trying to do curves - stick to flat pieces!

ReplyDeleteOk,its lovely - I should have another go and this time remember your instructions. I am sure my pieces were too thick. All I ended up with was mouldy fabric in which the carrots were wrapped, no doubt that will be useful.

Thick is fine, the trick is to get rid of the moisture as fast as possible, so lots of weight and change the pressing cloths/papers as soon as they get soggy.
